The 43rd Weifang International Kite Festival and the 2026 Weifang Kite Carnival opened at the World Kite Park in Weifang, Shandong Province. 260 kite teams from 57 countries and regions gathered in the "World Kite Capital", flying their creativity and passion in the same sky.
Weifang is the birthplace of the world's kites. It has a long history of kite-making dating back to over 2,000 years, with exquisite craftsmanship. In May 2006, Weifang kites were included in the first batch of the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List.
